Shorthanded SNG’s

January 24th, 2008 by player 1

Lately I have been getting into the 6-man SNG’s, both regular and turbos.  If you are a fan of regular SNG’s but don’t  like how long they take (especially on Stars), you may want to look into the 6-mans or the Turbos.

You have to make some serious adjustments when making the move to this different style of game.

Pre flop stantards aren’t quite as strict, as you can open up your starting hand requirements due to the fact that there are less players at the table.

Your play will be less based on cards, and more based on the reads you have on your opponents because you will be raising more hands than you would in a full game.  This will tend to put you in more marginal situations that you will have to navigate through more often.

Solid player reads, and good post-flop play are 2 keys to beating the shorthanded SNG’s online.

Do You Know How To Win SNG’s?

January 13th, 2008 by player 1

SNG’s are incredibly poular these days, since the buy in’s span from $.10 all the way up to $1000+.  The reason they are so popular is that they are so fun.  That is exactly what about 90% of the people who play SNG’s are playing for — FUN.

This allows good players to take advantage of these ‘for fun’ players, by exploiting all of their weaknesses, and relieving them of their chips.  SNG’s have changed recently, however.  All the real suckers that these tournaments used to be FILLED with (think Party Poker circa 2002), seem to have gone broke.

There is a new breed of player in the SNG’s running today.  This means that a revised strategy is necessary in order to beat them, and get in the money as much as possible.

If you are stuck with SNG’s, or even if you aren’t — do yourself a favor and enter your name and email in the form on this page.  You will discover, for free, how the new breed of SNG players can be exploited equalling your bankroll growing faster than ever!  The worst information is no information.

There are many situations that occur frequently when playing online 1-table tournaments (commonly known as “SNG’s”).

Having played a good amount of these over the years, and talking with some professional SNG players, I believe I have formulated a basic guideline for those who play in the $5-$50 range, which will no doubt increase your ROI (return on investment), as well as your ITM% (In the Money percentage).
