…At least not the Jerry Yang that won the 2007 WSOP Main Event. This Jerry Yang is just a regular guy from Southern California. He has a wife and 6 kids, and apparently he only started playing Poker 2 years ago. He won his seat to the Main Event in a $225 satellite at a California card club. In numerous reports from Pokernews, Pokerlistings, and other news sites, at the Final Table, Yang was playing like a maniac. Well guess what, when a maniac has luck on his side, he is VERY tough to beat.

Yang and his opponent Tuan Lam got all-in pre-flop for the Final hand in a “classic race situation in which Yang held 88 and his opponent held AQ. It looked like play would continue when a Queen flopped, but the river gave Yang a straight, and a new WSOP Champion was crowned.
It was also reported on Pokerpages that Yang will be donating 10 percent of his winnings from the event, to three different charities. I’m sure the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Feed the Children, and the Ronald McDonald House will be very pleased, and I believe all major tournament winners should do the same. Congratulations Mr Yang.
