Top 5 Satellites for the 2007 WCOOP at Pokerstars
The World Championship of Online Poker is coming up soon, and Pokerstars is offering many satellites where you can win a seat, and your share of the $15 Million estimated Prize Pool. I have compiled a list of the best 5 satellites I have seen for the WCOOP in terms of value, and potential overlay.
The following are the cheapest ways to win a seat into the 4 biggest tournaments in the WCOOP, all with a buy-in over $1,000. The Main Event is a $2,600 buy-in, and has a Guaranteed Prize Pool of $5 Million. WCOOP Schedule
Top 5 Satellites for the 2007 WCOOP:
- 2,000 Frequent Player Points(FPP’s) Turbo Satellite – This method allows you to win a seat in your choice of events “for free” You can use your FPP’s to buy into one of two satellites for the Main Event
- 2,000 FPP’s can buy you into a satellite where if you place, you win a seat into the “Sunday Qualifier” which is a $320 value. (The FPP satellite gives one seat into the Sunday qualifier for every 10 entrants)
In the Sunday Qualifier*, the amount of Main Event Seats given away depend on the number of entries into the tournament. The more people play, the more seats are given away.
*The Sunday Qualifier IS NOT a Turbo tournament
- 700+Re-buys(R) Frequent Player Points(FPP’s) Turbo Satellite–This method also allows you to win a seat in your the Main Event “for free” however this is a rebuy tournament and a Turbo
The 700+rebuy FPP satellite will also win you a seat into the Sunday Qualifier described above.
- $11+R Turbo Satellite — If you have some money, but not too much, you could try your hand at one of these. I, personally have never played in a Turbo tournament with re-buys before, but I can imagine they are full of loose, wild fish, and I would advocate simply playing solid poker, and doing all of your gambling before the re-buy period ends if possible.
- The $11+R Turbo satellite will also win you a seat into the Sunday Qualifier described above. Even if you have to use 2 rebuys you are still playing for a seat worth 10x your investment.
- There are also $11+R Turbo satellites running in which you can win a seat into a $116+9 satellite* for a chance at a seat in Event #14: $1,050 NL Hold’em
*The $116+9 satellite IS NOT a Turbo tournament
- $16+R Turbo Satellite — This satellite offers a chance to win a seat into a $109+R Tournament*, which will offer one Main Event seat for every $2,600 in the Prize Pool.
I would not advocate playing these satellites if you are on a short bankroll because the $109+R will probably be very hard to beat if you only one buy-in available *The $109+R satellite IS NOT a Turbo tournament
$44+4 Turbo Satellite –This is the one I am probably going to play in a few times, and due to the fact that I hate re-buy tournaments, I am deeming this the best value for winning a seat in the Main Event. Though it may be tough with blind levels increasing every 5 minutes, my advice would be to try and get your money in as good as possible, but don’t make any dumb plays because of the rapidly increasing blinds. I find that in the turbo’s you can’t sit around and wait for hands all day, but you don’t have to go speeding around or pressing the action in bad situations. Concentrate on picking the best spots possible, and get your money in.
