Day 1c has concluded at the 2007 WSOP and today will see the last of four scheduled “Day One’s”. Talk about trying to win the Lottery! I can not even fathom playing in that long of a tournament to begin with. How do you make it through a field of over 6,ooo players? I guess you would just have to take it hand by hand and break by break. Or you could get in a good chip position and have Johnny Chan who happens to be your Poker mentor, not to mention one of the most feared players in the game, sweat you for the whole rest of the tournament. That might do it.

I can’t imagine the times you would have to Not Get Unlucky in a tournament this size. When Chan won one of his back to back bracelets he won something like 15 races from the time they were at 3 tables until his victory. Sometimes I feel like I can’t even win one in a big situation. Apparently the stacks started at 20k this year instead of the usual 10k also. Chip leaders are all in the neighborhood of around $260k. Good luck to them as we all know the Day 1 leader has never taken the title.

Registration for the Main Event was open until 2pm PST today. If I were going to play, I would not have registered until the last day, if it was even remotely possible to do so. Can you imagine having to play on Day 1a, and having to wait 3 days before playing again? I wouldn’t be able to sleep probably. The worst would be if you were on a short stack and you knew that in 3 days you would have to make moves, and fast. I don’t know what the hell I would be doing as a chip-leader either. Then I really wouldn’t be able to sleep. Essentially being the chip-leader means almost nothing, but you would still be the DAY 1 CHIP-LEADER. It would feel really good to be able to say that for 3 days.

I caught the worst beat of my poker career on Saturday night. No Poker strategy book could prepare you for this You never think it can happen to you:

$1/$2 NL Full table I’m in MP with 55.

2 limpers. I limp 1 more limper SB calls BB checks flop is 752 rainbow

BB bets $5 EP limper calls, I make it $15. BB moves all in for $65 more.

EP flat calls. I’m all-in for about $200 more and EP thinks for about 2 minutes

before calling, and shows 22 for bottom set. BB has top pair.

Turn: the case deuce

River: I didn’t even look

The pot was big, and I got 1-outed. I was playing really well and I had a solid table image, so it was a real disappointment when this happened. At my Casino the $1/2 NL game only lets you buy in for $100 so the stacks are short unless the game has been going for a while. I wish they would change it becaue the $2/5 game is great but I just don’t have the bankroll to play in it regularly. I think I am gonna try for a nice big payday in some MTT’s this week. Now that we got the 1-outer out of the way.
