A contest is running right now for poker affiliates over at Poker Affiliate Programs, that is sending one lucky affiliate to party it up in London with some of the big dogs in the industry.

The PAP / PAW / Chip Leader VIP Affiliate contest is going to send who they feel is the most deserving poker affiliate to London on their dime, to rub elbows with some of the best in the business such as Jeremy Enke, Greg Powell, and a host of others who have made a name for themselves in this great industry.

So why do I deserve to be the lucky winner? I have only been doing this for 6 months!

Fortunately, this contest has a number of factors the judges are looking at.

When I started this site back in June, I had no idea it would grow as quickly as it has. I realized from the beginning that breaking into such a competitive industry would be very hard to do, but if I offered top quality information to my readers, that the site would grow.

Every time I write an article for this site, I pull no punches. I spill everything I know from reading, experience, and discussion of online poker strategy. The trouble with getting people to sign-up for online poker sites using a poker strategy model, is that many players looking for strategy advice already have accounts at many poker sites.

I realized this pretty early on, and decided to change my affiliate model to building up the site with content, and generating revenue from advertisers. I was able to acheive a PR3 for the first Google update after I launched the site, while many others’ PR dropped (yes I know PR means less and less every day, but I think this was quite a feat in just 3 months).

I have also managed to start ranking well for some pretty competitive terms including online poker strategy for which I currently rank #17 in Google. Anyone that knows a thing or 2 about SEO would tell you that in 6 months, this is quite an accomplishment.

The ad revenue from this site went directly into our new site RaceForASeat.com. I tried to figure out a way to get players involved with a site, and keep them coming back, while giving them a reason to sign up for a room I would promote, and I came up with the Cake Poker Rake Race.

There is definitely a risk I am taking to offer such a large prize to the winner of the Rake Race, but in business you must take risks. You also must manage the risks you are taking to properly calculate whether or not the ‘juice is worth the squeeze’. (Thanks to Jeremy’s Dad for that wisdom).

I decided it was and I launched the site with full confidence that it would be successful.

I deserve to go to CAP Euro on a freeroll because for the past 6 months I have been reading learning, and doing everything I can on my way to becoming a full-time affiliate marketer.

With no prior knowledge of SEO, Wordpress, hosting, website design, Photoshop, link building, or anything else relating to marketing, I have built a network of 4 sites that are on their way to becoming great resources for poker players and affiliates alike.

I am always happy to help out a fellow affiliate in need with whatever I can, because that is how I got to where I am currently. There are so many good people out there willing to help out a fellow affiliate. With incredible resources like PAP, PAW and CAP, I have shown that someone with a drive for success, a never-quit work ethic, and a bit of poker knowledge can start supplementing their income in just a few months time.

I knew almost nothing when I started, and I had a double-digit checking account. I have no one but the good people who helped me get going, to thank for my success. But the only way I could have gotten to where I am currently, is a crazy determination, a very light sleep schedule, and a don’t stop git it git it attitude.

Oh, and as for partying? Yea I can definitely do that too. I’m never the guy getting dicks drawn on his face with sharpies when he passes out early at a party. Jose Cuervo is a good friend of mine, and I will make him a good friend of everyone in London’s too. Plus I really need to wash away my sorrows about the Bills missing yet another post-season.
