Pokerstars Review

Pokerstars is one of the largest, most well respected of the online poker rooms. They are a US-friendly poker room and have been around since the start of the poker boom.
They have produced 3 of the last 4 World Series of Poker Main Event Champions, and arguably if it weren’t for them, Poker would never have come as far as it has. As crazy as it sounds, they owe it all to Average Joe: Chris Moneymaker. Since the amateur won the 2003 WSOP, Poker has never been the same. Everyone wants to be the next amateur to win a major event. That is why the traffic at Pokerstars is so good.
Players
Competition at Pokerstars can range in very weak novice players to your more skilled opposition. The lobby offers flop percentages and average pot for each table, to help you find the juciest ones.
SNG players up to and including the $50+5 level are generally not very good, especially at peak times.
Traffic
One of the largest rooms on the internet. Between 40 and 80 thousand players are on at one time. Because of this, it is never hard to find a (soft) game to buy into.
The software is not as quick as other rooms. In the Turbo tournaments, the cards are dealt twice as fast as in the regular games, and I always wondered why they don’t just implement the speed-dealing into all of their games.
Stars allows you to tile your tables and play as many tables at a time as you desire. They have options for taking notes on your opposition and have pre-select options for calling or raising as well as lobby stats.
Games
Ring games have been known to be tighter than other rooms. They have levels from $.01/.02 , all the way up to a $100/$200 NL Deep stack game. No matter what your level of play is, you will be able to find a game to suit your needs.
Pokerstars spreads a number of games including Hold ‘em, Stud, Omaha, Triple-Draw, and even 5-c ard draw.
Events/Qualifiers
Stars offers a number of guaranteed tournaments each day with some great overlays, due to the fact that by the first break in almost any MTT, at least 1/3 of the players have busted out. They run an unbelievable amount of satellites for many major events including the EPT, WPT, and WSOP. You can win a seat in the WSOP Main Event for as little as $2 at Pokerstars.
They also offer Frequent Player Points (FPP) to reward players for playing. The more rake you generate, and tournament fees you pay, the more FPP’s you will accrue. These can be spent on satellites, or merchandise in the Pokerstars FPP online store.
Bonuses
Pokerstars lacks in a very generous bonus for players at this time, as they only offer a Pokerstars Marketing Bonus up to $50 on your first Deposit. What they lack in deposit bonuses, they make up for in traffic, customer service, security, and game selection.
The Deposit Bonus is cleared by earning FPP’s (see above)
