I was UTG holding TT.

The blinds were $50/100 in the early stages of a $24+2 Guaranteed Tournament on Full Tilt Poker.

I raise to $200, button calls, BB calls. Flop is 9-6-2 Rainbow BB checks.

I bet $450. Button lets half his time go down before smooth calling. BB goes all in for $900 more which covers my stack.



For some insane reason, I lose all touch with reality and I call which happens to be The Biggest Mistake Tournament Players Make.Maybe it’s because the players in the hand were loose, and not very good according to what I had previously seen, but it was painfully obvious that I was beat.I was ahead of so few hands, namely: A9, 88, 77, 55, 33That’s it, and none of those hands would be able to check-raise there especially with the call from the button.

Listen to your opponents. They will tell you what they are holding with their betting patterns. You don’t have to be a skeptic, especially in multi-way pots.

Don’t be afraid to lay down a hand.
