Look at Stack Sizes
In a MTT or SNG, it is extremely important to be aware of all of the stack sizes of your opponents.
With this information you can start to implement a plan of action to win your opponents’ chips.
The hardest stack to play with in a tournament is an average-to-medium sized stack. With one wrong move, that average stack can become a short stack, especially in online tournaments where the blinds go up fairly fast.
The first thing you need to do is note the stack sizes, and size up the players to your immediate left. Are they fond of defending their blinds to late position raises? Are they willing to re-steal with less than premium hands?
The players to your immediate left will dictate your strategy for playing when you are in late position. You don’t want to raise too many trashy hands into a frequent blind defender unless you know he will fold to a continuation bet the majority of the time. What you do want to do against these players is raise more with your good hands because there is a good chance they will give you action.
If you are going to raise, and you have aggressive players to your left, you should only be raising hands that can stand some heat from an aggressive player’s push.
Also you must know how strong your table image is. If you have been raising a lot of hands, don’t expect a ton of respect when you go for a blind steal.
