How does Online Poker Strategy differ from Live Poker Strategy? Aside from the obvious things like not being able to see your opponents in the physical form, online poker strategy is a whole different ballgame than live play.

Online poker players are forced to rely on their opponents betting patterns, and in a way this can be easier playing online. You can take notes on people whenever you see them show down a hand. This is an incredible advantage compared to live play.

The disadvantage is that you can’t see who you are up against. If I am in a live game and some young hot-shot sits down at the table, I am going to peg him for aggressive right off the bat. Then I am going to watch what he does, and mold my opinion to what I see.

Online I can’t see who I am playing against (which is probably good. I’d rather not see a bunch of slobs sitting around in their underwear eating cold pizza). I have to make distinctions of their play by how they play their hands.

In a way this can be good because the online poker strategy tools I use are right on my desktop, and I can take notes on players.

When it comes to poker strategy and tactics, I believe you have a better arsenal at your disposal online. Aside from there always being a game going on, you have many advantages that you wouldn’t have playing live.
