SNG Hand Quiz

The blinds are T10/20, and you have T1500.
The player UTG raises to 120. One player calls the 120, and the guy to your immediate right makes it T500 to play.
What do you do with the A♥ K ♥?
Answer: You Fold
While this may at first glance look like a weak play, the idea of a SNG is to play tight early on — Super Tight.
In this situation, you have no money invested in the pot. You obviously can’t just call because you are only going to hit the flop about 1 in 3 times, and you won’t really know where you are post-flop.
If you move All-In, and get called, you will usually be a coin toss at best. I have seen some pretty strange hands shown down in the first level of a SNG, but there is no reason to chance it, when you have no money invested in the pot to begin with.
Sometimes, you just don’t have to play.
